Grady Roper - The Visual Art

Beautiful, seedy, surreal, dream-scape scenerios created out of a swirling dark south Texas perspective based in drug culture nursery rhymes, by utilizing thin layers of color acryic paint and black ink, worked over in an outsider scratchy story teller's hand. Situations of wonderment depicting characters and human brained animals, frozen in a polaroid snap shot's audacity, with the gracefulness of a schitzophrenic deconstruction, allure of bad intentions, eerie embrace, kind of silly, yet lovely and subtle... art-school-anti-art-school.

Roper has toured the USA and Europe extensively, with his main artistic focus, Attic Ted, a weirdo gothic carnival music performance art with masks and multiple personalities. Attic Ted has played many festivals, aired on dozens of radio shows, and released many records and cds over the past 14 years. The visual aspects of the masks and theatrical body movements of the characters, warp Attic Ted performances into an intoxicatingly macabre delight. watch a video here: http://youtu.be/eW3ww9lNzf8
